The EdgertonMuseum is one of Edgerton's main tourist attractions, rich with history. It has a very interesting past, and it showcases many interesting historical artifacts.  The original Station was built by Grand Trunk Pacific in 1911, three years after the track was laid.  The town was surveyed in 1909 and a name was chosen, Edgerton, after one of the railway workers.  Until the station was built, a railway car was used as the first station.

The bay-window type station was served by the Grand Trunk Pacific until 1921, when the GTP and the Grand Northern amalgamated to become the Canadian National Railway CNR. The CNR used it until it was closed in 1979. In 1980, it was purchased by the Edgerton Historical Society for $1 from CNR to serve as a museum. The one and a quarter acres of land the museum originally sat on was donated by Garnet & Gladys McGillvary, with additional land being donated by Doug McGillvary years later.

A quonset building was built on the grounds in 1986, and the BattleValleySchool (which served as a school from 1911 to 1957) was brought to the grounds in 1988. Guy Gibson built and donated a shed to house machinery, and in 1993, a windmill was erected on the museum land. Also in 1993, the first Edgerton church, the MethodistChurch, which was built in 1911 and later became the FaithUnitedChurch, was brought to the museum grounds from the Robert Sarginson farm.
